Some degree of discomfort is to be expected following any surgical procedure. Most side effects will begin to surface within the first 24 to 48 hours after your procedure, and can include tenderness, swelling, bruising, and sensitivity. Discomfort can be addressed with prescription medications or over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. To reduce swelling and inflammation, a cold compress can be applied in 15-minute increments for the first 24-48 hours. You will also be given a compression garment to wear during the first few days, which will protect the surgical area and promote healing. After two to three days you will be able to shower and start wearing a sports bra.

It is important that, no matter what the fee, you feel comfortable with your surgeon and confident in his operating ability. Although a rhinoplasty is the most difficult procedure for a facial plastic surgeon to perform, it is Dr. Torgerson’s specialty. He is not only an accredited surgeon, but has also received certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada to perform head, neck, and facial cosmetic surgery. Viewing before and after photos of his previous rhinoplasty patients will alleviate your anxiety ,and you will be confident that the fee charged is well worth the price!
Case 47: This patient’s primary surgery left her with valve collapse, nostril notching, persistent tip rounding and hanging columella. Secondary surgery involved correction of these issues with repositioning and reconstruction of the tip cartilages to improve tip contour. Although she is still a little swollen in the after photos, she is already happy with her new nose.

Case 88: The goals of this septorhinoplasty were to straighten her crooked nose and improve breathing. She also hated how her nasal hump and length brought attention to her irregular profile. In our opinion, the mark of a good rhinoplasty is that the nose should become a background feature, and she’s very happy to have achieved that goal with her Profiles rhinoplasty.
Through our office in Vancouver, rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) effectively, predictably and safely corrects the appearance of the nose. Following rhinoplasty, the desired result is a natural appearance with the nose being in balance with the other facial features. In addition to cosmetic considerations, obstruction of the nasal passages can result from structural abnormalities both on the outside and on the inside of the nose. This can lead to multiple problems including decreased exercise tolerance and sense of smell, poor sleep, noisy breathing and chronic bad breath (so-called “functional” problems).  Certain functional problems are treatable during rhinoplasty surgery but this is evaluated on a case by case basis. For a general overview regarding this procedure, please read our blog post on the basic facts about rhinoplasty.
Case 34: Hispanic Rhinoplasty in this patient meant removal of a high dorsal bump on profile and correction of a droopy-appearing tip. On front view, there is correction of a left nasal bone fracture and refinement of the nasal tip. All of this was done while still maintaining her unique individuality and while bearing in mind the various challenges Rhinoplasty in Latino patients present- thicker skin and softer cartilage.
However, if a patient underwent surgery in another country, but experiences post-operative complications, he or she will need to pay to travel back to the same destination if they wish to have the same doctor oversee any revisions. Revision surgery performed by a different surgeon is extremely difficult, and thus more expensive. In fact, it can cost 50 percent more than the original surgery. Therefore, it can actually be far more economical to pay for a surgery within the U.S.

She advises me that there are many conspiracies around botox- staying up right for more than two hours, is false for starters. ‘The solution takes 20 minutes to settle in your muscles, so I do advise you to stay upright for then, any longer wont make a difference’. She does however advise me not to undertake exercise that’s too strenuous or hot following the treatment (fine by me) and to carefully wash my face when I get home, not scrubbing or rubbing too hard.
Your breasts should be completely healed six months after your augmentation. There will still be scar tissue, which will continue to change over the next several months. At 12 months, your surgical incisions will have faded significantly. Though the scars will still be slightly noticeable, they will be concealed due to the special techniques and incision placement used by our surgeons.
“I’ve found that sometimes MRIs are not actually very reliable. In some instances, a patient’s MRI said the silicone gel implant had ruptured, and then when I went in to operate on it, it actually hadn’t. I’ve had one or two patients where an MRI showed the implant wasn’t ruptured, but based on my clinical exam I really thought there was a concern, so I went in and it turned out it was ruptured.”

The geographic location of the surgeon's practice can greatly affect the cost of rhinoplasty. More affluent cities and neighborhoods, such as Manhattan and Los Angeles, are plastic surgery hubs where some of the best surgeons in the world practice. Meanwhile, these areas also have a higher cost of living, which means higher overhead costs (rent, staff wages, utilities), and that translates to a higher overall price of rhinoplasty.
Reported treatments for BIA-ALCL vary from complete implant and capsule (scar tissue around the implant) removal to chemotherapy and/or radiation. In rare cases, deaths have also been reported (though none have been reported in Canada to date). Preventive removal of breast implants is not recommended in the absence of signs or symptoms suggestive of BIA-ALCL. Patients should discuss the risks and benefits of implant removal with their healthcare professional if they have concerns.
