You simply can’t decide on costs alone as the best surgeons are always more expensive, and your health insurance won’t cover a nose job if there’s no medical need for it. Always be careful when going over your options. A bargain that sounds too good to be true might be a surgeon that doesn’t perform the procedure regularly or worse, isn’t trained in rhinoplasty.
Rhinoplasty can be performed in one of three places: private surgical suites, ambulatory surgical centers, or hospitals. You should speak with your surgeon and make certain that their chosen venue has been accredited by an organization such as the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAA), the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), or the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Thailand welcomes hundreds of thousands of medical tourists each year, many of which travel for Breast Augmentation procedures. Medical Tourists travel from all across the globe, particularly from the local SE Asia region, Australia, US, Middle East and an increasing amount are traveling from China. An outstanding private healthcare system combined with a hot tropical climate and competitive prices means that Thailand is now the third most popular destination in the world for medical tourism. The most popular procedures tend to be cosmetic surgery (breast augmentations, gender reassignment surgery, and CoolSculpting to name a few), cardiac surgery, orthopedics, and urology.

I needed very little convincing before making my way down to the Cadogan Clinic, one of the very best locations in London (might I add) to speak to Nurse Libbie Wallace, a master in her field. After filling in a short consultation form, Nurse Libbie asks me how old I am. After replying 28, she chuckles a little, but continues… I’m not the youngest client she’s had walk through the door, but she does tell me that she would only ever treat those that actually can benefit from the treatment, ‘It’s important that I manage patients expectations’.
The most exciting part of the rhinoplasty is the use of our state-of-the-art operating facility! Our hand-picked staff want to give you the best experience possible, and they do everything to ensure that your needs are met before and after surgery. You will enjoy the comfort of our state-of-the-art private surgery centre in Yorkville, downtown Toronto, where you are treated like an individual rather than a number. Our fee includes anaesthetics, our qualified operating team, a recovery nurse and most importantly, the expertise of our Facial Plastic specialist, Dr. Cory Torgerson. After care is also included in the rhinoplasty fee. The doctor releases his private cell phone number so he can be contacted at any time if concerns arise. And finally, follow-up appointments to observe the healing process are also included.
Constance Chen, MD, board-certified plastic surgeon and breast reconstruction specialist, adds that the FDA is currently looking into fat grafting to see if there’s a risk of breast cancer associated with it. Other nonsurgical augmentations with saline or injectable fillers are extremely dangerous and not recommended, says Lara Devgan, MD, board-certified plastic surgeon and RealSelf Chief Medical Officer. “We do not understand how injectable fillers interact with breast tissue in the long run,” she explains.
There are two main types of implants for you to consider: saline and silicone. Most people say the silicone implants feel and look more natural than saline, but they cost more. Silicone implants are typically about $1,000 more than saline, but if you’re interested in gummy bear implants—a type of silicone implant—expect to pay even more. In a RealSelf Q&A, Omaha, Nebraska plastic surgeon Dr. Richard J. Bruneteau says you should expect to pay “about $500 more than standard silicone implants.”

Some degree of discomfort is to be expected following any surgical procedure. Most side effects will begin to surface within the first 24 to 48 hours after your procedure, and can include tenderness, swelling, bruising, and sensitivity. Discomfort can be addressed with prescription medications or over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. To reduce swelling and inflammation, a cold compress can be applied in 15-minute increments for the first 24-48 hours. You will also be given a compression garment to wear during the first few days, which will protect the surgical area and promote healing. After two to three days you will be able to shower and start wearing a sports bra.

Reported treatments for BIA-ALCL vary from complete implant and capsule (scar tissue around the implant) removal to chemotherapy and/or radiation. In rare cases, deaths have also been reported (though none have been reported in Canada to date). Preventive removal of breast implants is not recommended in the absence of signs or symptoms suggestive of BIA-ALCL. Patients should discuss the risks and benefits of implant removal with their healthcare professional if they have concerns.
