Unfortunately, scarring is a reality of any breast lift surgery. The amount of scarring and positioning of the incision, however, can be personalized and tailored to the patient’s condition. Generally, a patient who needs a more pronounced lift may need a full anchor scar, while a patient with milder sagging can get away with a single vertical scar. A board certified plastic surgeon will guide you toward the correct type of breast lift for your condition, but it is important to understand that this scarring is the tradeoff that results from having perkier, more youthful breasts.

Here at Cohen/Winters, we recognize that the dynamic between patient and doctor is a partnership. Finding the right patient is just as important to us as finding the right doctor is to you. If you have any more questions about breast lifts please contact us or visit our Bergen County office so that we can help you make the decision that’s right for you.

At DePerro Plastic Surgery the cost of Liposuction is $1750 for the first area and $1000 for each additional area.  There is also approximately $2000 in costs for anesthesia and the facility fee.  We perform all of our liposuction procedures in our attached surgery center under general anesthesia and sterile conditions.  This maximizes your safety and comfort so you don't feel any pain during the procedure.  Also, because you're asleep we are able to be more thorough and remove more fat.  So in total 1 area of liposuction under general anesthesia would cost approximately $3750, two areas $4750.
Each year, thousands of women undergo breast lift procedures to restore the shape and volume of their breasts for a more youthful breast contour. Oftentimes breast lifts are combined with other procedures such as breast augmentation or breast reduction. In cases like these, the breasts are lifted as they are increased or decreased in size. The result are breasts that look and feel better!

Although liposuction is used to get rid of fat, it’s not a weight-loss solution. Liposuction works best on deposits of fat that are concentrated in particular areas and resistant to exercise, particularly around the stomach, thighs, hips and buttocks. You might lose a little weight, but it’s not likely to be significant. Liposuction also won’t fix a bulging stomach that’s caused by weakness in the abdominal wall, and it won't tighten loose skin. For toning and flattening the abdominal area, however, liposuction is sometimes combined with abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, in which fat is removed from the belly, the muscle wall repaired and excess skin removed.
Breast lift scars will be very noticeable for the first few months, often appearing red and lumpy. The scars will continue to fade into thin white lines over the next several months, but will never go away completely. Cortisone cream and silicone sheeting may reduce the appearance of scars. When considering the long-term results of breast lift surgery, many women feel that scars are a fair trade-off for firmer, younger-looking breasts. However, in some cases, abnormal breast lift scars can form, causing undesirable results.
Liposuction is often combined with other procedures to provide more comprehensive results. At Macleod Trail Plastic Surgery, our experienced surgeons may recommend enhancing liposuction outcomes with other surgical procedures if this will help achieve your cosmetic goals. A mommy makeover, for example, may combine a tummy tuck and breast augmentation with liposuction for women whose bodies have changed after having children.
During the course of a woman’s life, the breasts change in appearance and oftentimes sag. Don’t worry, this is NOT an uncommon condition. In fact, the clinical term for female breasts that sag is called ‘breast ptosis.’ There are many causes of breast ptosis including pregnancy, cigarette smoking, high body mass, gravity and the natural aging process. There are also different degrees of ptosis as shown in the illustration below. Fortunately, breast ptosis can easily be treated with breast lift surgery.
Good skin tone is essential to a good outcome, since the skin needs to snap back into the body’s new contours once the fat is removed. “If a patient has good skin elasticity, they’re going to have a really good result,” says New York plastic surgeon Dr. John Mesa. “But if the patient has bad elasticity, like a woman who’s had multiple pregnancies and the skin on her belly is too stretched, the skin isn’t going to shrink—and you’ll be left with sagging” (unless lipo is paired with a tummy tuck).
Finally, there’s the so-called scarless lift. Women who are seeking a mild lift but are dead set against leaving scars anywhere on their breasts may opt for a technique that uses a network of dissolving surgical threads inserted through tiny incisions along the collar bone, guided under the breast tissue, and then anchored to the collar bone, to create an internal bra of sorts. Scar tissue forms around the threads, theoretically providing support to lift the nipple.

It is almost impossible to provide an accurate estimate of liposuction price unless the surgeon has had the opportunity to examine the patient. One can expect to be given a range of liposuction prices or at least the smallest fee charged for a specific area. For example, if Dr. Jones always quotes an all-inclusive global price, then, for example, the receptionist should be able to state that “for abdominal liposuction, the minimal price is $4000 and may be as much as $8000 for a very large abdomen”.
Experienced breast surgeons create a personalized surgical strategy just for you in advance of your breast lift. The plan takes into account your specific goals for the breast lift, along with your body size, age, skin tone and elasticity and more. The best breast surgeons never perform a generic breast lift—every procedure should be designed to fit your unique needs and your anatomy.
Doctors on RealSelf stress that post-lipo weight gain can be an issue, if you don’t keep eating a healthy diet and exercising. As Beverly Hills, California, plastic surgeon Dr. Brent Moelleken notes in a RealSelf Q&A, “By nature, surgery causes soreness, and patients are usually restricted from full workouts for a period of time after surgery. This explains the weight gains often noticed immediately afterward.” But it’s important to get back into the exercise habit as soon as you’re able. “Some patients gain a false sense of confidence after liposuction,” he says. “If anything, patients should plan on being more active and healthier about their eating habits after surgery than they were before.”

The patient's medical history and overall health can elevate the level of difficulty of the surgery. For example, if you are suffering from an immune deficiency or a chronic condition, such as uncontrolled diabetes, you instantly increase the complexity of the surgery. This also affects your recovery. You may need more time to relapse and get back to your everyday routine, which might mean you will need to take more medications after the surgery (for a longer time than usual), and potentially more time off work. All that equals more money spent on your behalf.
Some women seek out scarless breast lift because they wish to avoid scars which are the hallmark of a breast lift.  Unfortunately, a true breast lift cannot be done with scars.  However, in some instances, a woman looking for a breast lift only needs more volume in the upper part of her breast and in such situation a breast augmentation helps to reshape the breast and creates the illusion of a lift.  This is a procedure that is appropriate only for a very limited number of patients as this is not a true lift.
Unfortunately, there are no completely scarless breast lifts.  There are 4 main types of breast lifts performed depending on the amount of sagging, excess skin, surgeon preference, and patient preference.  Each one has a slightly different scar pattern.  The ones with the least amount of scarring also tend to be the least effective in terms of lifting and coning the breasts into a more perky shape.  The moon-shape (crescent) lift involves a scar hidden along the upper half of the areola border.  The donut (circumareolar) lift involves a scar hidden around the entire circumference of the areola border.  These scars camouflage very well where the darkly pigmented skin of the areola meets the lighter skin of the rest of the breast.  These lifts work well when the nipple is only slightly downward pointing.  One of the disadvantages of these lifts is that they can only raise the areola up to a maximum of about 2 cm.  They also tend to flatten the breast shape and are not ideal when there is saggy breast tissue in the lower pole.
Botox Breast Lift: There are more and more uses of Botox that researchers are finding as time goes on. A Botox Breast Lift is not an approved use of botox by the FDA. Here’s how it works: Botox is injected into your pectoralis muscle. This causes a relaxation of the muscles in the chest and your back muscles then begin to lift your breast. The lifting is not dramatic though and it only lasts about three to four months. The advantage, however, is that there are no scars because surgery was not done. There’s also no recovery time as there is with a breast lift surgery.
Usually, medically necessary surgery dictates where incisions must be made, and it’s sometimes difficult to place those incisions where visibility is reduced. In addition, because medical surgery is performed to improve your health—or possibly even save your life—the surgeon’s focus will be on the primary purpose of the procedure rather than the cosmetic aspects. This may mean closing the incision in one layer, or using staples, which themselves cause scars in addition to the incision.
Finally, lifts can be done with a scar just around the areola. A frenchman named Louis Benelli popularized this procedure, as did a Brazilian named Goes. But they do extensive work on the inside to shape the breast, something that few american surgeons actually do. In their hands, terrific results can be achieved, but I have seen inconsistent results with this procedure with american surgeons. Allegedly, it is the operation that has the highest incidence of malpractice suits. This is not due to anything inherently wrong with the procedure, but that the procedure is being used in breasts that are probably too droopy, heavy, and loose for this technique. I have achieved excellent results with this, but only on breast that are relatively small and light, and that don't have a lot of droopiness.
A major key to making sure that the breast lift process is as comfortable as possible is planning ahead of time. Much of the post-operative discomfort is due to swelling. While wearing a compression bra should help manage some of the swelling and help reduce pain, there are other things that can be done to reduce swelling and make your recovery easier.
